Brighton & Hove Post Pride Clean-Up Success

These two cities and their partners described the cleansing efforts as a great success.

The planning for months on end was fruitful because of the combined reactions of the organizers and their sponsors. It was a resounding success and everyone was happy with the result. They promote less waste during the busy weekend and encouraged to continue their operations to clean the surrounding areas even after the Pride event. During their clean-up campaign, the streets were cleaned up and free from litter. It was resulted from an effective and coordinated campaign for their clean up.

Additional Contractors were hired and machines have swept the London road while others use jets to wash the streets as the attendees of the Pride Parade walked the streets of the Pride Village Party. The organizers cleansed all event sites with the GMB union threatens a potential industrial action.

Pride always organize events on the beach with this year as an exception. Despite not having to use the beach, the Brighton and Hove Pride sponsored the Big Pride Beach Clean inauguration which helped transform the beach into something beautiful.

The refuse collected was sorted and separated recyclable materials . This part of the event stressed how big the challenge is in keeping the shorelines free from trash that would cause great harm to diverse marine life and the environment.

Pride is continuously engaging with the businesses located on the seafront with the initiative of sharing the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness of the beaches. This they will do after a week’s bump on their businesses due to the week-long event.

"This work is part of our ongoing mission to encourage residents, visitors and businesses to take Pride in the City’, one of the Pride organizers said.

“Oceans 8 Brighton are thrilled that the Pride sponsored beach clean was such a success”, Creative Director of the Green Centre and one of Oceans , Melanie Rees, said.

She announced how grateful they were for over 1000 volunteers who took the initiative to share their time for 3 sessions on that Sunday morning. The support of the BUPA was a great help as well, she said, because the beaches on both sides of the pier looked better than it was in a normal weekend. The rubbish were all sorted while on site and were all set for recycling.

Vericlean were actually awarded the contract for Brighton Pride to help clean up the mess in the park
