This August, Brighton will play host to its annual Pride celebration. As per tradition, Brighton Pride promises to deliver extraordinary entertainment, including headline acts by A-list celebs.

However, in recent years the event has been overshadowed by complaints over the huge mess that has been left in its wake. In 2018, it was estimated that 100 tonnes of litter was strewn across Brighton as a result of the three-day festivities. Now, Pride officials have called on local businesses and volunteers to help keep the city clean.

Event organisers have set up the City Angels membership scheme to tackle the problem head-on. In return for free online exposure and window display materials, business members are asked to keep the fronts of their businesses clean and tidy, and to report any suspected criminal activity.

And whilst local businesses pitch in to keep Brighton's streets spotless, many eager volunteers will be headed down to the beach, armed with headphones and litter pickers, for a silent disco beach clean. The collaboration between Pride and Ocean's 8 will see eco-conscious locals dancing their way across the iconic seafront, removing unwanted debris before it is swept out to sea.

Brighton Pride has worked tirelessly to ensure that the event is as clean and environmentally friendly as possible. Event officials have upped the number of recycling bins available at all major venues and have urged visitors to bring refillable bottles that they can take home with them. If all goes well, this should be the cleanest Pride event that Brighton has seen in many years.

Local cleaning company Vericlean has voiced their support for Brighton Pride's big clean up. They believe that this is a necessary and much-appreciated step to keeping the local area clean and litter-free, and that it is vital to maintaining harmony between the event organisers and local residents.
